Dear MURTC faithful,
Without wanting to jinx the remainder of our summer, the new tennis season is just around the corner! We want to hit the ground running, so need to know now your feelings on playing various competitions next season.
Night Pennant in the coming season will have 8 teams competing on Thursday nights, starting September 23rd. Each team will comprise 3 players playing a singles and 2 doubles each on the evening. We invite you to form teams, name them, and let us know! If you can’t find a (full) team yourself or just want to play, also let us know and we’ll place you in a team.

National League – Also starting mid-to-late September. Played in handicap bands of 5 points. Last season was MURTC’s most successful season of National League ever, and possibly the most successful season ever had by any club. With wins in Divisions; Premier, 2 (5 – 10 h’cap), 7 (30 – 35 h’cap), and near misses in Divisions 6 & 9, can we improve on last season? If you are better than 45 handicap and fancy playing National League for MURTC in 2010 – 2011 season, please contact the pro shop ASAP – entries close August 20th.

Club Championships – Unless you inform us otherwise we will place you in the appropriate handicap level championship and the Club Handicap.
Our season curtain-raiser tournament, The Village Cup, is just over a month away! Be sure to secure yourself a place for this event September 17th – 19th. This is a handicap singles event – so great for those are looking to improve their handicaps in a short period of time. Contact the Pro Shop or sign up on the Club noticeboard.

The Brodie Cup is the National team championship alonside of The Field Trophy. Each fixture comprises one singles match for a 30, 40 & 50 handicap player, plus two doubles matches, one for 35 handicap players and the other 45 handicap players. We have appointed experienced match manager Corin Jenkins as Captain, and hope his stewardship can return us to the heady days of our last (and only) Brodie Cup win. If you would like to represent the club in this competition please let us know. In the meantime please SAVE THE DATE of Saturday November 20th which is our first match against Seacourt. This evening will also be the celebration of the club’s 10th anniversary. More to follow on this.
